The Oblates of Mary Immaculate have welcomed the recent announcement by Education Minister, Ruairi Quinn, of plans to establish a Statutory Trust for former residents of residential institutions. The Order has also said it will be happy to meet with the Minister to discuss the proposed Statutory Trust, based on its detailed statement of affairs submitted previously to government.
Welcoming the Minister's announcement, Oblate Provincial, William Fitzpatrick said: "The Statutory Trust was first announced over two years ago, in May 2009, and we are pleased the the new government is now acting in detail on this commitment.
